The Forum of Irish Postgraduate Medical Training Bodies (The Forum) was established in 2006 to promote common strategies and enhance universal efficiencies of the accredited postgraduate medical training bodies. 
The membership of the Forum includes all the Postgraduate Medical Training Bodies in Ireland.  
The role of the Forum is to:

• Facilitate cooperation and exchange of information between postgraduate medical training bodies in Ireland. 
• Develop common strategic policy and the promotion of common goals.
• Provide a collective voice on behalf of the postgraduate medical training bodies on issues relating to the provision of postgraduate medical education, health policy and service delivery, proposed legislation, relationships with government, regulatory bodies and independent organisations.
• Facilitate a coordinated approach to interaction with the HSE (NDTP/Regional structures and National Quality and Patient Safety)  DOH and Medical Council and other relevant stakeholders.
• Develop programmes of work in response to emerging common needs of postgraduate training bodies.
• Liaise with the National Doctors Training Planning, HSE, as appropriate, on key strategies, operational models and plans.

The Forum Secretariat is funded by National Doctors Training Planning, HSE. The RCPI acts as the principal employer.

Standard Duties of the Post        
The Forum Manager is responsible for the management of the executive affairs of the Forum. The Manager is also responsible for managing the office of the Forum.
There is a high degree of collaboration and cooperation required across initiatives within the Training Bodies, the HSE and other stakeholders.  The Manager works with the members of the recognised Training Bodies represented on the Forum and has a wide range of interactions with other individuals and organisations involved in medical education and training and other key stakeholders including the HSE and the Department of Health and the Medical Council. The Manager will represent the Training Bodies shared interests  when required. 

The key duties and responsibilities of the Forum Manager are:

• Lead change initiatives or key projects that are aligned with the Forum’s programme of work, identifying the required services and associated supports to ensure successful delivery of this programme.
• To identify areas that require or could benefit from collaboration with the goal of raising standards across the Training Bodies. 
• Develop and disseminate common core policies and procedures across the Training Bodies where possible to give equity in areas such as grievance or entry to training. 
• Represent Training Bodies as  when required. 
• Prepare the annual work plan, the revision of the plan in the light of unfolding circumstances, and the timely and informed communication of key performance indicators.  
• Act as single point of contact for all stakeholders. 
• Coordinate policy advice within the Forum.
• Collate progress reports and monitor progress on relevant Department of Health initiatives for all member organisations. 
• Maintain the Secretariat for the Forum, its working groups, project teams, committees and sub-committees, including preparation of budgets, project charters, agendas, meeting papers, minutes and ensuring follow up action is taken.
• Communication and liaison with key senior stakeholders.
• Manage and coordinate the budget and funding submissions.
• Ensure the quality of the processes, services and supports provided. 
• Manage Forum staff including temporary and specified project staff. 
• Identify resources and develop project plans to deliver on new initiatives.

The Forum Manager will work with the members of the recognised Training Bodies represented on the Forum and will have a wide range of interactions with other individuals and organisations involved in medical education and training and other key stakeholders including the HSE, the Department of Health, Department of Justice, INIS, external educational bodies, the undergraduate Medical Colleges and the Medical Council.
The duties of this post may vary from time to time as the needs of the Forum evolve and vary. The Manager will carry out any other duties as may be defined by the Chairperson or Secretary.

Person Specification

• Minimum 3 years of progressively responsible experience in a fast-moving environment
• Relevant professional qualifications at level 8 degree level or above

NOTE:
Independence of the Forum of Irish Postgraduate Medical Training Bodies
While constituted by the recognised higher medical training bodies, the Forum is an independent entity.
Although the Forum may have an address of convenience it shall be operationally distinct and independent.
Independence of Training Bodies- The Forum unites individual training bodies by enhancing the standardisation of practices, coordination of responses to third parties and generation and implementation of common strategy.
However, each training body reserves the right to independently pursue the same or other activities.
