Job Description

Role: BST Postgraduate Training Manager
Salary: €57,000 + benefits

 The appointee will be responsible for the following but are not limited to.
 
National Postgraduate Medical Training Management:
  • Oversee the delivery of national postgraduate medical training at BST level in accordance with approval received from the Medical Council and policies and procedures set out by the College.
  • Manage the team responsible for BST training delivery in General Internal Medicine, Histopathology, Paediatrics and Obstetrics and Gynaecology, providing guidance, training and performance evaluations
  • Help build a professional reputation for excellence in the development and delivery of Postgraduate Specialist training.
  • Maintain standards of the BST training programme by implementing recommendations made by the Medical Council and the accreditation process.
  • Assist in reporting to external bodies and agencies; NDTP, HSE, Medical Council, The Forum.
  • Engage with Internal and External stakeholders to foster partnerships and collaborations; Director for BST, Regional Programme Directors and Advisors, National Specialty Directors
  • Actively engage and implement structures as set out by the Internal Medicine Project
  • Lead and motivate the BST team to achieve departmental/company goals, as well as meeting deadlines set out by HSE SLA
  • Engagement in regional site visits to strengthen relationships with stakeholders and support trainees
  • Engage with health and wellbeing function of college to support trainees with reasonable accommodations
  • Attend governance meetings (RPD, ETC and Hub&Spoke meetings) and provide metrics related to BST training
  • Oversee annual evaluations and allocations processes for BST team
  • Implement and monitor BST policies and procedures in conjunction with the Education and Training Delivery Manager
  • Ensure effective long-term planning and oversight in line with the annual training cycle
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment
  • Align delivery strategies with the overall goals of the institution.
  • Workstream budgetary management in conjunction with the Education and Training Delivery Manager and Head of Operations.
  • Engage in Internal Medicine working group, workshops and implementation processes

Requirements

The successful applicant will have three years or more experience in a comparable education and training environment, with experience in postgraduate or undergraduate medical education desirable:
  • A third-level qualification.
  • Change champion.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and influencing skills with the ability to drive consensus among various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Self-starter, proven leadership, and team-oriented skills.
  • Excellent IT Skills (MS Suite, Quercus, and Kaizen), strong report writing skills and an appreciation of IT systems and solutions.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving capability together with excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills.
  • Experience in postgraduate medical education is highly desirable.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in using CRM software.
  • Attention to detail, analytical and planning skills required.
  • Proven track record of managing projects to completion.
  • Proven track record in complex stakeholder management
  • Practical experience in budgets.
