Our members and senior management team are heavily involved in the current transformation of the Irish health service. We work closely with the Medical Council of Ireland, the Health Service Executive, the Department of Health, and other postgraduate medical training bodies.
We are also undergoing significant internal changes. We are implementing a major programme of transformation that has seen the creation of new business initiatives, the internationalisation of the organisation and closer collaboration with key policy leaders in healthcare.
We are continuing to adopt a more proactive and progressive role in the Irish and international health sector and have become a more outward‑looking organisation in recent years as a result. As new initiatives have been developed, our workforce has grown, and we now employ approximately 180 staff. We value creativity and innovation and encourage our staff to ‘think outside the box’.
Our staff surveys consistently show that the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland is a great place to work, with a friendly, supportive atmosphere and a sense that everyone is playing their part in improving Irish healthcare.
RCPI’s vision is “A globally connected community of doctors improving people’s health”, and RCPI’s mission is to develop and support our learners, trainees, members and fellows to be leaders in healthcare delivery and transformation through training, education and advocacy.
The Connect Programme
The “Connect Programme” is a large transformational initiative that will enable people, processes, technology and organisational structures to develop capabilities to meet our mission. The programme is driven by a sense of urgency, is broad in scope and impact, and will be delivered in parallel with ongoing operations.
The proposed change initiative and software solution upgrade aim to enable the transformation of the College. This transformation will be enabled by changes in process and structure to critical College capabilities, including business development and recruitment, admissions/applications, registry and record management, training/education delivery and services delivery. These transformation changes will allow the College to enhance communication with prospective trainees, learners, members and fellows (TLMF) and applicants, and improve overall administrative efficiency. This strategic initiative seeks to establish RCPI as a leading institution in healthcare education and leadership by providing a seamless and personalised experience for all stakeholders.
