Job Description
Role: Communications Officer
Duration: 2 Year Fixed Term Contract
Salary: €35,000

The Communications Department is an agile team responsible for delivering the College’s public engagement strategy, brand and reputation management, content delivery and channel strategy, and for supporting its six faculties and institutes.
 
The Communications Officer is a new role within the Communications Department to support business growth and evolution as outlined in the college’s Strategic Plan 2025-2029.
The successful candidate will have a digital first, data driven mindset, with a proven and demonstratable track record for delivering engaging digital communications and social media campaigns. With a minimum of two years’ experience, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate strong graphic design skills and an acumen for written and visual content production, as well as an understanding of stakeholder relations within complex organisations. Experience with public engagement and media relations is desirable but not essential.  
This role will be responsible for organic social media and community building, bringing a digital first mindset to content and audience nurture, and identifying new opportunities for public engagement in that space. The role will support research, reporting and planning, utilising data insights to support the implementation of the Public Engagement Strategy.
Requirements
The successful candidate will have experience in the following

  • Strong writing and editing skills: Ability to create and distribute content across appropriate platforms. 
  • Effective communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to ensure clear and targeted messaging to stakeholders. 
  • Proficiency with digital tools: Practical experience curating social media content, using social media management tools, and managing digital communities. Experience using content management systems for website editing is favourable.
  • Graphic design skills: Experience using graphic design skills to support campaign messaging from idea to execution. Experience with video production and editing tools is favourable.
  • Organisational skills: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. The successful candidate will be results oriented, with a clear understanding of the role of problem solving and collaboration in effective project management. 
  • Interpersonal skills: Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and interact professionally with members and fellows of the college, senior stakeholders and external vendors.  
  • Administration: Ability to manage administrative tasks independently, ensuring processes and procedures are followed and updated as necessary. Strong attention to detail is a must.
